As part of a larger initiative to work with Middle East delegations in the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), members of the Middle East Next Generation of Arms Control Specialists Network (MENACS) are providing Arabic summary reports of BWC meetings. MENACS will translate three total reports for the first session of the Preparatory Committee (PrepCom) for the Eighth Review Conference of the BWC that took place on April 26-27, 2016.
The first report sets the scene of what to expect at the PrepCom. The second report summarizes the events that took place during the meeting days. The third report outlines the conclusion of the PrepCom and the adoption of an interim report. MENACS will also provide subsequent translations for the second session of the preparatory committee (August 8-12, 2016) as well as the 2016 BWC Review Conference (November 7-25, 2016).
The daily summary reports are being translated by MENACS member Hussain Alhowaidi, who recently completed an internship with the BWC Implementation Support Unit (ISU).
